What is wrong with my Google Earth?

When I run Google Earth and zoom in to get a closer look at the maps, it displays a checkerboard pattern overtop of what I would like to see. It will sometimes clear up, but not entirely.

What is going on?

This happened on my dads computer before. Re-Install Earth and it should ask you something about Direct X. Say yes and it should speed up.

you have a slow computer and it takes a long time to load

try to be as patent as posslibe

consider getting faster internet/computer with more memory/ram.
