Why doesn't Google had news and sports pages like Yahoo does?

Yahoo's main page is somewhat like a newspaper with all its sections. Why doesn't Google offer the same thing?

I prefer Google for all my searching and emails, but visit Yahoo's pages for information on the day's events. If Google would create such a page, I am sure it would create a huge amount of traffic.

It is just links to stories. Yahoo's pages have content organized into categories and sub categories.

For instance, I can go to the sport page, and then I can choose baseball as a sub section, etc.

Yahoo also has their own writers and contributors in all sections.

Believe me, I am a Google fan, but for whatever reason, they are not taking advantage of this service.
