What is that sattelite thing that google has where you can see terain up close, is that Google maps?

I need to scope out some wooded areas near my city where I can camp. Does that show close enough detail?

both google maps and google earth use satellite imagery.

google maps is accessed via a web browser such as internet explorer, google earth is downloaded and installed and wraps the same imagery around a virtual globe you can navigate.

alot of the time rural areas do not have alot of detail available because the companies that take the images don't deem it to be interesting enough - urban areas have the most detail.

i believe its called google earth. I dont know about scoping out the woods though...it usually only works out with cities. I guess you could try though.

you can also go to google, go to maps, and type in the address of the place you want to find. Thats what I usually do...Doesn't usually work with the woods. I cant find my house on that thing; i live on 86 acres so good luck finding the place you want.

Google Maps is free and shows a satellite picture most of the time....though it's not realtime....it's old pictures.

Google Earth is close to realtime....but you gotta pay for it.

yes its Google earth, or you can just go to google.com click on the maps link and bada bing bada boom.... type in an address, business or anything you want and there you have it

um download google earth on google just put in the google search bar download google earth. have fun on ure trip ;)

you don't need google earth, google maps will work fine, just type in your location, change the setting to sattelite, and you will beable to see where the trees are

Google Earth -- you have to download it, but it's pretty neat. They have like street views where you can click on certain streets and go right to the street as if you were in a car. I don't think they have it for some wooded areas, but you still get close enough to see where you could camp.

Go to http://MAPS.GOOGLE.COM and put in an address near the wooded area. Then click the SATTELITE view, and move around and zoom in and out.

note: The resolution of some areas is not good and you won't be able to see anything clearly, but if you are lucky the are you want too see might have a good resolution

When you arrive to the Google main page, type inthe search bar Google Earth. It's a sattalite device that focuses on physical and politcal states of the earth. You can type in your adress and focus in on your home. Anywhere else too!

it is google earth, but the satellite images on it are a little old so, after finding the location you should scope it out to make sure it's what you want.
