How can I apply SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to my website?

I I have tried to add my website to Google and Yahoo search engines, but I am unable to do so, can anyone tell me what is the easiest way?

I think your missing some meta tags such as
name="description"
name="keywords"
and some other ones.

Drupal has excellent out of box SEO features. Make sure your xhtml is semantically proper with properly formatted meta tags. Use the W3C Markup validator to check. Just follow the Google and Yahoo guidelines for a good website and submit your site only once and your site should start showing up anywhere between a couple days to a month.

For starters, your title tag should be a short phrase with some keywords about your site. Words you would like to rank for. NOT your web address or website name. People are not going to search for that because they do not know you exists.
