I've send a friend my e-mailadress and now it appears on google.will i be able to have it removed?

I've made a guestbook entry on a friend's myspace guestbook and now i receive a whole lot of spam mail,and i've checked and it appears on google when you search for it...what can i do now? is there a way to have it deleted?

to maniac: yes she has removed the guestbook-entry...so does that mean,that my e-mailadress would stop appearing after some time? how long will that approx. take?

Even though your friend removed your address from the MySpace page, the damage is done. Google will still return cached results, your friend will need to contact Google directly to delete this page, this can be found at Google's Webmaster Tools.

Now that your e-mail address has been crawled by spam-bots, your e-mail address has been greatly compromised. These vermon have distributed your address to many rouge mailing programs for the purpose of spam and fraud. When you receive an e-mail from a spammer, look at the bottom of the letter for a unsubscribe link, click on it, enter in your e-mail address only, submit. Then take your message and mark it as spam and hopefully that will keep more from coming..Most companies now will remove spam within 24-72 hours..

In the future if you want to leave your e-mail address out in public do so in this format as robots cannot distinguish this.

your e-mail address followed by using the the shift 7 key, shift 3 key followed by numbers 64

The AND POUND64 = @ and the robots cannot figure that out.

Sorry to tell you this but once it's out there, you're hosed. You can have your friend remove the guestbook entry but the damage is already done.

There is a way to have webpages removed from Google, but you have to be the owner of the webpage. So your friend would have to be the one to request removal, however, I'm not sure how it works for MySpace...I don't know if they would remove it or not. Generally you have to modify different parts of the website, and I don't think that would be possible on MySpace.

Is there any way you or your friend can remove the guestbook entry entirely? If your friend already read the entry and they are done with it then they could remove it (if theres an option for that). The google page/cache would still stay for a while, but it will eventually change as the Google Crawler crawls around the guestbook again.

It's always worth having several email addresses, one for trusted friends, one for untrustworthy, and several more for web-site log-ons where you may well get spam.
Unfortunately once your details are on the www they are probably there for ever. You might want to remove your "friend" though and change your email. Then you can set up a filter to instantly discard anything from the old address.

Google will probably create a new cash of the site within a few weeks at the most. So your email address will stop coming up on Google eventualy even without you doing anything...

However, the email address is probably stored in a scammer's database in some 3rd world country. Scammers sell lists of email addresses to other scammers so your problem might get worse... don't anser any emails from people you don't know... meeting face to face with the 419 would be a bad thing...

You should probably get a new email address...
