When i search a website name and google has a short description of the site beneath the title...? |
where does it come from. The short description as you call it is just text from the page being linked to. The text used is chosen from the entire page because it contains the words or phrases used for the search. There is no way to force Google or any other search engine to display what you want it to display as they store the whole page and just display what is relevant to the search being performed. idk When creating a page in your website, usually your index or home page you can input a "meta name" and "content" that will help search engines locate your page based on some key words you use. If you right click any web page and click view source or view page source you'll have a page of code pop up. Look at the top in the first few lines for "meta name" and "content". These are key words for your site that will help search engines locate your site. The short description below the listing in Google can be controlled by the meta description tag in the source of your webpage. When creating a page in your website, usually your index or home page you can input a "meta name" and "content" that will help search engines locate your page based on some key words you use. Google call this a snippet. Although it's in google's hands what will be used, if you have a good description metatag they will give preference to that |
