Flickr hotlinking?

Sometimes when I control-save a picture, it renames itself as 'spaceball' and won't allow me to add it to my cache in my pictures.
What's wrong? How can I fix it? Is it something the owner of the pictures has done?

well if someone is photographer and he/she makes living by taking pictures, surely they don't like someone stealing their photos. that's why there is this kind of protection on flickr.
however if someone chooses to share pictures, they all have "all sizes" button on the top menu of each picture. if there's no such button, the photographer doesn't allow saving picture. if you click on 'all sizes' you will see 'download photo' button. that's how things work on flickr.

this photo is not allowed to download: http://www.flickr.com/photos/valpopando/...

Some pictures have the copyright controls to prevent people from hotlinking or using the image without permission. So, it often just places another transparent image over the actual image to prevent people from saving it that way. If you use firefox and have firebug you can easily find the original image and save it. But dont break any copyright laws. :)

use the soft tools like fast stone capture...
by which u can easily take those pics...
or easy way...
try print screen..n then crop it in paint or photoshop or picasa..anywhere..
both are so easy way...
enjoy it...

that's most likely because of slow internet speed. when people choose their pictures to be non-public you don;t see them at all, in your case you can open the pictures but they won't load...
