Dell computer....cd drive stuck in?

When I push the button for the cd drive to open it makes sounds like its going to. Then doesn't. How do I get this stupid thing open? Pulling out on it doesn't help

I got the cd drive to open. But when I put the cd in it says, "Please insert the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart applications. then comps up with the main screen for the program.
My computer sounds like its gonna start then doesn't.

Sounds like it could be the drive going bad. Spank it.
Or it could be dying. Funeral at five.
How old is the drive? They are mechanical, so having one go bad at three years old is common.
New DVD recorders at Newegg.com run about $30.
Also, try this: create a new folder on the c drive, like c:\CDTEST. Insert a different cd. Open it in explorer and select all files, then copy them all to CDTEST. If it reads and copies all files, it is probably the disc. Try the same with the CD you are trying to install from.

there should be a very small hole on the cd rom drive, you need something small enough to put in the hole and pop the drive out.

If you look next to the button there will be a little hole on the drive looking from the side on the outside. Put a bent paperclip in there and it will open.

Straightened paperclip into the little hole near the button should do it.

I guess you could try to restart your computer. Maybe it froze. Sounds like it is acting up. If I have this problem I will restart it. Then try the disk again and see if it will work.
