My PC will not turn on, but I do get lights on the power button & system board.?

My Dell Demension E310 tower PC recently stopped booting up. I would power it up and the only thing that lights up is the power button, which blinks and I do see some lights on the motherboard. Nothing else boots up, neither fan from the power supply nor the heatsink fan turn on. What could be the cause of this?

When you say that the power button blinks, is the color green or amber. If it is amber, you likely have a power supply or motherboard failure. In that case you will have to have Dell work on it, if its under warranty. If its not under warranty, most reputable shops can help you.

try taking ya bios out then puting it back it (thats the shiny little coin like thing)
or its ur power pack my power pack recently went i got a new one from maplins

The power supply went 'south for the winter'! Either it's full of dust bunnies, and dirt, and/or it's a cheap unit, common to most pre-built computers. Here's an example of a decent unit from TigerDirect.com: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...

Sounds like you PSU (Power Supply Unit) has blown, did you hear a bang? Have you been shutting it down correctly?

You'd need a new PSU if it is.

Either the power supply is producing voltages that are outside of specification which will cause the motherboard not to fire up the components or the motherboard itself is bad.

as a person who work on dells every day i come across this problem a lot. if the power button is blinking orange it means ur power supply has come to the end of its road and need to be replaced. i put a link in the source box for u to look at, it is modular power supply so there is no need to be worried if you don't have enough connectors because u can always add more cables to it
