Mobo FRIED?!?

Last night during the lunar eclipse I was installing the last parts to my PC.
After they were installed I marveled in it's beauty. Suddenly, I heard something fall inside the case and I looked through the glass and saw smoke.
Smoke was coming from the RAM. I powered it down and pulled out the RAM. It was fried and burned the RAM slot.

Now my new PC is waiting for more RAM but, the RAM clip is what caused the issue. It fell out while it was running causing it to slip out.

My question is this. How can I check to see if the mobo and processor is still working without RAM?

The Psycho is correct. Your system won't post without RAM. There is a good chance your motherboard is alright though. I've seen RAM "smoked" in many a motherboard. I'd check to make sure there is nothing in the module slots and would highly recommend blasting the slots with some canned air before trying again in case there is something still in the slot causing a short. You can run the system with only one clip securing your module most likely. I've done that on a few systems also.

Hi. Boot and see if it will POST. This tests several things on your board. No POST? Not a good sign. RAM needs to pushed in until it 'clicks'. I smoked a stick because it was not in all the way but the slot survived.

Unfortunately you can't test the motherboard without RAM. Even a good motherboard won't turn on without it.

Mate....whats the use of the board even if its working...i mean....ur system wont work without RAM (assuming that ur ram slots are COMPLETELY BURNT)....u should just get another board instead of wasting time with it
