DELL PC - Inspiron (any model) - GRAPHICS CARD?

I've had some bad experience from Dell during my fist buy. I had a DIMENSION 3100 which when I went to upgrade the graphics card (which was intergrated) - NO PCI-E slot (only PCI-e x1/ PCI - not much good)!! So I ended up keeping the S**t intergrated card! Will the newer DELL motherboards have PCI-E slots x16/PCI-E? I'm thinking of an Inspiron 530 - the slim one. I mean...will the specs be good, with enough room for upgrading unlike the old Dimension?

Well I wouldn't get the slim either and the cd/dvd is vertical on them, but the Inspirons do have the PCI-e16 slots in them now, actually all the Dell owners manuals are online in the support section see first the link below

If you go Dell be sure to check for online coupon codes, see the 2sd and 3rd link below, they always have stuff on sale or usually $300 off a $999 or higher machine, a lot of this stuff Dell doesn't advertise "on their site" although it is there

You can put in a coupon code at checkout and play with the configuration, you won't need to put any personal info in to get that far, I got a Inspiron 5600X2 loaded with a 22"LCD for just over $700 a while back, just run the price over $1000 and put in the coupon

Forget the guy above saying Dell is no good..this one I'm on has a Gigabyte motherboard, WD harddrive, Nvidia video, all the components are name brand, he's just a techie wanna-be who has no clue what are in computers

Dell sucks, they don't like you too upgrade their computers they want you too buy their most expensive models. That is why they come with such bad motherboards. Do a full system build or if you don't feel comfortable doing that get an HP or something.

WHenever you are looking to get a Dell, go to the support site and go to the manual for the PC or laptop. They show how to upgrade everything. At least you would see what they are using for the slots. I still think those Dells are a good buy even if u are just buying to upgrade later.

i have a dell xps420 with a nvidia 8800GTX 768Mb and 2.4 Q6600 quad core and the board support SLI... but i think the only good dell's is the xps range the other ones are sh*t

NO!

Do NOT get a slimline case from anyone!
When you come to upgrade, you will find yourself restricted to low-profile (half height) cards only. This pretty much rules out serious gaming.

Dell offer good value for money, for a reasonable general purpose product. In the past they did some foolish things (as did other "manufacturers"), including proprietary PSUs - unique size and pin configuration, and as you have found, motherboards with witless cost savings. I think that's all behind them now, but whatever you decide to buy, check the level of online support (manuals/driver downloads), forums etc. - and google "Inspiron 530 problem" (substituting the model obviously) to see if there are any current issues...

Good Luck!
