Do I need both a cable modem and a wireless router?

I apologize in advance for my ignorance on this subject.

Would I be able to use just a wireless router to connect to the internet, or do I also need a cable modem?

I'm setting up the internet for an apartment I'm moving into, and I have the option of renting a cable modem. I already own a wireless router, so I want to make sure I also need the cable modem.

I'm almost positive that I do need the cable modem, but I just wanted to be sure first.

Yes you will need a modem. The router only allow you to access the modem with multiply computers an add the feature of wireless to your home network.
On a side note. If you plan on keeping cable for more than a year I would recommend you purchase your modem. The modem will run about $80 and rental will be $9.95 to $19.95\mo depending on where you live. In less than a year you will be saving money.
I have had cable internet since '98 and have owned my own modem since '01. It just made good 垄垄 to me.
You are right. You need one
Yes, you need the cable modem to receive the internet from your provider. You will need the router to get the signal to your computer unless you plan on connecting your computer directly to the cable modem
Experience
Its fine if u asked on this subject ok now for ur question u do need some tipe of internet conection either cable or dsl (personal favorite is Cable) and u just need to conect the cable to your router like u would a computer to start ur wireless or u can get it all setup if u use at&t u can buy the router from them
Yes you need both the Cable or DSL Modem(actually a total misnomer since neither are a modulator or demodulator) and a wireless router.
Yes, the cable modem connect to the wireless router. Make sure you make a key or the whole apt buliding will be using your wireless internet.
