My broadband speed on my wireless laptop is significantly better than that on my desktop. Why is this??

Desktop is connected to router via cable - laptop is wireless. The speed difference is in the order of 4 times faster on the laptop. The desktop can be as low as 300kbps

more info on both machines specs would really help, but i would say your desktop needs a better network card but there are settings on both the machines and the router. Also make sure your cable is cat 5 or better and check it for damage

does your laptop have more ram? is it newer? thats problably all.

My desktop broadband speed is faster than my laptop

Have you got a lot of junk on your desktop, such as downloaded music, that slows it down big time, i don't have any music on mine and mine is a lot faster than my hubby's who has lots of music and lots of programmes on his. I also regularly defrag mine and delete temp files and cookies, my hubby doesn't, that also makes a difference to the speed.

Don't you mean your DOWNLOAD speed is considerably slower when you download stuff on the net ??

Generally Ethernet, the cable, is the fastest option on a router and wireless gets a slower connection rate because of obstacles between the router, and the distance from the computer.
