GeForce 9600 PCI-E 2.0?

Hi im a bit of a noob when i comes down to graphics cards. My current mother board only supports upto PCI-E x16 would this card work or perform ?

Yup it will work, not up to its full potential. However the 8800 GTs perform better than the 9600GT.

not sure about that but 8800gt 512 on tigerdirect for 199$ is way better 20 more $ and 20% more performance

Yes it would/will work... PCI-e 2.0 cards and slots (on motherboard) are backward compatible.
