How to use my 3.5" Sata 2 hard drives as external Hdds?

I have two SATA 2 hard drives that I want to use as external hard drives. I know I need to buy an enclosre for them, but all I can find are enclosures for regular SATA drives (not SATA 2). Does this make a differnce?

Also, are there any enclosures that will fit 2 of these drives in a single enclosure?

Thanks!

Hi, you can use the enclosures designed for regular SATA for your SATA 2. What type of data are you going to save and access? a lot of questions need to be answered, another is what type of connection? Is it USB, Firewire,eSATA. You got to check the back of your PC to make sure. If your just going to use USB,Firewire connection, a regular SATA enclosure will do. But if its eSATA, then thats the time you find SATA 2 enclosure. You can only use 1 SATA for an enclosure.

Hope this helps, click the thumbs up icon for me to entertain more questions.

Sure, but the problem is that unless the system has a SATA port exposed the USB interface can't handle the extra speed available from the SATA 2 drives.

There are enclosures out there that will fit multiple drives but I'm not sure if they will support SATA2.

Also not sure if SATA 2 drives are compatible with SATA connections.
